Smart Power Electric Bikes – Returns & Refunds Policy (New Zealand)

Compliant with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) & Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA)

Your Rights Under New Zealand Law

All Smart Power Electric Bikes customers are protected by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) and the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA).

Under the CGA, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if your product:

  • has a fault,
  • is not of acceptable quality,
  • is not fit for purpose, or
  • does not match its description.

Nothing in this policy limits or replaces your rights under New Zealand law.

Returns for Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order when it arrives. If your item is:

  • damaged
  • defective
  • not working as expected
  • or you received the wrong item

contact us immediately at sales@smartpowernz.co.nz or 0272 88 00 96 so we can assess the issue and resolve it under the CGA.

Depending on the situation, we will provide a repair, replacement, or refund.

Items Not Eligible for Returns or Refunds

The following items cannot be returned unless they are faulty (CGA applies):

  • Custom‑built or personalised products
  • Batteries or electrical components that have been installed or used
  • Items damaged due to misuse, accidents, or unauthorised modifications
  • Sale or clearance items

These exclusions do not apply to faulty goods — faults are always covered under the CGA.

Exchanges

If you would like a different model or product, the process is:

  1. We assess the original item under the CGA (if applicable)
  2. Once approved, you may place a new order for the replacement product

Exchanges are not guaranteed unless the original item meets the criteria for a CGA remedy.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your item (where applicable), we will notify you of the outcome.

If a refund is approved:

  • Refunds are processed to your original payment method
  • Processing typically takes up to 10 business days
